Winterport Water District General Information
Winterport Water District serves 292 customers & provides fire protection
through 39 hydrants as well as 6 miles of water mains in the village area of
Winterport Maine. Your drinking water is tested daily by our trained staff, 365
days of the year, and meets all criteria as set forth by Maine's Drinking Water
Program.About the Winterport Water District
The Winterport Water District was created by Private and Special Act of the
Legislature passed in 1969 and accepted by the voters of the District at a
special election held Monday, June 16, 1969.
The Winterport Sewer District was created by Private and Special Act of the
Legislature passed in 1971 and accepted by the voters of the District at a
special election in 1971
The Winterport Water District and Winterport Sewer District were consolidated
into the one entity named the Winterport Water District and approved by voters
of the District on June 13, 2006.
Only source of revenue is money raised through water and wastewater bills, also
public - private fire protection, plus other utility services.
